National Kidney Foundation Car Donation
A National Kidney Foundation Car Donation is one of the best things one can do with their old car.
The National Kidney Foundation’s Car Donation program is a unique way to put something you no longer need or want to good use helping others. The National Kidney Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases and to helping those affected by such diseases. Since 1950, the foundation has provided community and patient services, education, legislative advocacy and research support, all funded by individual and corporate donations.
More than 26 million Americans—one in nine adults—have chronic kidney disease, and millions more are at increased risk of developing it. Early detection can help keep the disease from getting worse, but currently there is no cure. The National Kidney Foundation Car Donation program, Kidney Cars, is an easy way that you can help fund the foundation’s programs. And your donation may be tax deductible.
Donating your car to charity is not a new concept, and a number of organizations accept unwanted vehicles. Goodwill Industries, Purple Heart and the Salvation Army are just a few of the charitable organizations with similar programs. However, the National Kidney Foundation’s Car Donation program is one of the country’s oldest and largest vehicle donation programs. Kidney Cars was launched in 1983, and since its inception, more than 685,000 people have donated a car, truck or boat.
The National Kidney Foundation accepts all vehicles, including such unusual items as farm equipment and airplanes. The foundation states that “if it rolls, floats or flies it can help save lives!” It’s not necessary for the vehicle to be operational, and the foundation will arrange free pick-up, including a free tow if necessary, for donated vehicles. The program is completely free, and the foundation provides the appropriate tax documentation in case you are eligible to receive a tax deduction for your donation.
